Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson, both lawyers. After moving to Oxfordshire around the age of five, Emma enrolled at the Dragon School. Emma's goal was to be an actor. As a young girl of 6, she enrolled in the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch in which she was taught classes on singing, acting, and dance. When she was ten, she had performed and taken as the main character in several Stagecoach productions and school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book was cast in the year 1999. Emma was spotted by Emma's Oxford Theater instructor. David Heyman announced to Emma that after eight consecutive auditions they as well as Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's debut on screen came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's release in the year 2001. The film was also the film that was most popular during 2001. Opening weekend and day the sales were record breaking. It was highly acclaimed by critics, as were the performances of its three young starlets. The Daily Telegraph in Britain and the Daily Telegraph in America, widely read the newspaper, described her performance as outstanding. Emma's performance was nominated and was awarded five awards in the film.
